We want to tell you a little about who we are and what we believe and teach. Our church is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, which has its headquarters in St. Louis County. Our church is celebrating its 140th anniversary in October, 2005. Throughout its history, our church has upheld the Bible as the Word of God, and, as the only authority for Christian faith and life. We would, therefore, say that everything that we teach and believe must have as its basis that which God's Word, the Bible, tells us. The message of salvation in Jesus Christ is the central message of the Bible. We believe that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can have hope for life beyond this world. Because we are all sinners, we are dependent on God's grace for forgiveness of sins and to have the hope of Heaven. God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus, to suffer in our place on the cross of Calvary. There, He paid for all of our sins and earned for us forgiveness and life everlasting. By His resurrection from the dead on Easter, He won for us the victory over sin, death, and Satan. (John 20:3-31; John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-10) Now, we who believe in Jesus are called to live our lives in such a way that we would honor our Savior. We know we cannot do so perfectly, but we seek God's help in living as faithful followers of Jesus Christ. We welcome anyone and everyone to our church. If you would like more information about our church and its ministry, or, if we can be of help to you in any way, please contact us. In Christ's love, Pastor Dehnke ******************************************************************************************** Adult Information Classes (AIC): For any new Adult Christian, transfers from another congregation, and any present member who wants a 'refresher'. Sometimes God brings the Gospel to people and sometimes He brings them to the Gospel. I pray that the Holy Spirit leads ALL those who are searching for Him to this website so they may be touched by Him via this medium. Jesus said 'Go and Tell', so, come and listen! Besides reaching out to ALL of God's children, it is my hope that this website will be used by the members of St. Johns Lutheran Church, not just to get some helpful information, but, also to integrate it into the processes of St. Johns and to be partners with its on-going development to facilitate the various ministries and strengthen their relationships with each other and with God. God's blessing to everyone! Mark Holdenried ******************************************************************************************** |
