Board of Elders

Purpose: This Board meets with the Pastor on a regular basis to discuss matters pertaining to the spiritual concerns of the congregation. This includes dealing with requests for transfers to other congregations and transfers from other congregations to St. Johns. The Board assists the Pastor in matters concerning the worship services. Board members may also assist the Pastor in the conducting of public worship.

A very important aspect of this Board's duties is a program of member visitation, including spiritual encouragement. Although spiritual admonition might sometimes be necessary, the emphasis is primarily one of spiritual encouragement. The Pastor of St. Johns as well as each member of the Board is primarily concerned about the spiritual welfare of every member.
